Tales of Genji
Right around the bend of Uji bridge, is a memorial to the author of the TALES OF GENJI. The TALES OF GENJI is considered the first novel ever written. Shikibu Murasaki is the author of the tales of Genji, the first prominent novel in Japan. Chapters from 46 to 54 are set in Uji.

Historic Uji
Uji is a historic town located between Nara and Kyoto. Uji is famous for its history including the Tales of Genji and possibly the oldest Green Tea Shop in the world.
