Matsuyama Castle on Katsuyama Hill

Hard to believe that the castle is standing on what was originally two hills filled in by local Japanese for their feudal lord so he could build this magnificent castle.

Katsuyama Castle Hill

Originally 2 hills. The space between the hills was filled in by the residents of the community during the late 15th and early 16th centuries. After that was done, construction of the castle began. Matsuyama castle is one of the finest castles in Japan. It has never suffered from prolonged periods of conflict, which has kept it intact. Beneath the castle lies what remains of the castle barracks, which today is a park for visitors and has past history of the castle on display.

Freshness

Freshness burger, made fresh. Something different than the usual burger joint. You do not see many franchise fast food restaurants in town. They are there but not on every corner. That is re"freshing." The second picture is the view down the street on an overcast day. It reminds me of my first visit to Matsuyama. The mist just hovers over Katsuyama Hill.

Touchdown from Katsuyama Hill

As you exit the Ropeway, you are greeted with the regional products of Ehime Prefecture, such as Tobeyaki Pottery, the wonderful orange juice from the hills of Ehime, the indigo cloth products which are the colors of Matsuyama and the wonderful treats available in most of the shops.

Dress up and have your picture taken against the backdrop of one of the finest castles in Japan. The castle is used for many functions including wedding parties.

Starbucks is there but the locals can find coffee and treats in the local shops.
