Seaside Dinner - Kurushima Strait

Seafood does not get any fresher than this. You pick your dinner among the many tanks inside the store and then a hibachi is filled with burning coals to grill your feast upon. It's very good and very messy.

This island is among the chain of islands for the Shimanami bike route.

Wait for it.

Magnificence of the Kurushima Strait

The strait is very turbulent and the size of the bridge is unbelievable. Only when you see how small traffic is from a distance do you get a concept of how large it looms over the strait.

The water is full of whirlpools that pop up and disappear through the deep turbulent water.

Ocean weather ship of Quickwater at Strait of Kurushima

At Imabari, you can take a cruise of the Strait of Kurushima and enjoy the ocean ride, view the tidal pools and witness the magnificence of the Kurushima-Kaikyo Bridge (4km/2.5mi). The world’s first three successive suspension bridge. The bridge at its highest point is 604 ft. (184m) above the ocean water and the bridge itself is 213 ft. (65m) above the ocean water, enabling the passage of any size ship through the Kurushima Strait.

More information can be found here.
