The End of the Battle

The battle comes to an end when both sides realize that one is weaker than their opponent. It is a series of shoving matches where one team pushes the other team back to their side of the field. When both teams realize that one team is dominant, the victor emerges. In this battle, our team lost but their is no dishonor in losing, but their is no victory march home. The march home is quiet and somber. But no worries, victory will come next year if the gods wish it.

Observing the Battle

Observing the battle is a bit a dangerous. If you're close enough to see the action, you're close enough to get run over and yes, if you get run over, the battle does not stop, they keep ramming at each other. There are medical emergency vehicles and staff at the ready and people do get seriously injured during these battles.

Entering the battlefield

Entering the battlefield is predetermined by who has home field advantage and who is the challenger. The crowd is a mix of local enthusiasts who gather to cheer for their Mikoshi or just watch the spectacle. Getting a spot on the stands takes some determination. The stands have been known to collapse from over crowding. This battle is also sponsored by your local yakuza.

Parade to the Battleground

Needless to say that no one is feeling any pain as they march to the competition. Spirits are quite high with expectations!
