Matsuyama Castle

Welcome to the one of the top ten castle's in Japan! It is also one of the few situated on top of a major hill (Katsuyama hill).


Restoration was underway but this approach is considered the most scenic view of the castle with the main building in the distance.


There is no safety net in case you fall off the castle wall. This is all the safety you can expect! It is written without Chinese characters so children can easily read the warning.

Cable Car Ride Up Katsuyama Hill

There are three ways to venture up Katsuyama Hill in Matsuyama. You can walk the traditional path built in the Edo period or you can ride up in the chair lifts or ride the cable car. This is the view from the cable car.
