Construction in Japan

Most places you travel in Japan, there is construction going on. The Japanese are meticulous. It may seem like it takes forever, yet one day the project is completed.

I remember seeing some homes built near my in-laws house in Tochigi. I returned only a few months later and the houses were completed. They build houses pretty fast there. I think they were prefab houses.

My late grandfather was a stone mason and I helped him build growing up. I have a tremendous respect for those who work with stone.

Japanese building is interesting in the fact they live in an earthquake ridden environment so attention to the foundation is essential.

It is interesting to see the use of local materials in construction as well as the continuity of older methods combined with new.
