Toshodai-ji Temple - Nara


National treasures held inside the Temple Museum. Photography is not allowed inside the museum. The museum was simple and kept in attendance. Questions are answered with in depth knowledge.

It seems most temples have historic artifacts that are hidden away and never put on display.

Their is a certain paranoia about preserving Japanese heritage. Considering the amount of damage wars, fires and earthquakes have brought to Japan, that can be understood. What surprised me is a lot of what you see on the original temple is a duplicate of the original item which has been taken down and preserved for posterity.
